Weber is building great BBQs since over 60 years now, so you can expect a quality product.  Simple, sturdy and decently big enough for 2-4 people. On Amazon, it has over 700 customer reviews with an average of 4.8 stars.

In the classic design, this grill is a solid choice in most cases.

For currently just $99, this is an affordable barbeque, but don’t be fooled: It does its job very well. You can easily adjust the heat inside with two vents, and place the meat either directly above the coals or a bit higher. Also, if you close the vents, you can use this grill effectively as an indirect heat smoker.

By closing the vents, you can almost seal this grill airtight. This allows you to keep the coal after cooking, so you can use it again next time. This is great for saving money on expensive charcoal!

“I have used dozens of different grills of all design types and fuel sources. I can afford the most expensive grills on the market, and what do I use today, when cooking for my small family? This Weber 22 inch grill, which blows every other grill of any type away for real life every day grilling”

So, in conclusion, you can’t really go wrong with this grill. It’s a solid choice, high-quality and easily lasts for years. Already made your choice? Get it here.

The Char-Broil Charcoal Grill

Char-Broil is another traditional company producing top BBQs for over 60 years now as well. This is a completely different grill though, you can see that immediately.

There’s a lot more to this BBQ than just a bowl for coal and a grill for meat.

There’s a front access hatch for tending to the fire made from cast iron for minimal heat loss. The patented coal tray can be lowered or raised with a handle. This gives you easy control over how close you want your food to the coal. Four air dampers let you control the air and heat inside.

But currently just $106, or $154 for the bigger variant, the Char-Broil charcoal grill is still very affordable. There’s 77 customer reviews at the moment on amazon, with an average rating of 3.8 stars.

The main reason for the 1-star-reviews were manufactoring problems. You might end up with some bent parts, or misaligned holes. If you handy with tools, you should be able to fix many of these smaller errors. Bigger problems may not be easy to fix though.

So glad I decided to get this . Was a little reluctant because of the reviews. I love it. Unlike the reviews of the difficult assembly I had the entire grill put together in 2 hours by myself. Love the features on it. Especially the height adjustments for the coal. I’ve been grilling a lot and everything is perfect.”

So, in conclusion: There may be some manufactoring problems, but otherwise a great choice for a grill. Very versatile with lots of space to grill and additional space to put stuff – which is really useful! If you want to get it, go here!

The Face-Off

The Weber 22-Inch Charcoal Grill has a 22-inch diameter, putting it at 363 square inch cooking space.

The Char-Broil Charcoal Grill has either 580 or 780 square inch cooking space.

So if you are planning on barbecue with 2-4 people, both are totally sufficient. With the Char-Broil grill, you will be able to accommodate more people with food, up to 8 with the big version.

The Weber is slightly more portable than the Char-Broil because of the bigger wheels and simple build.

The Char-Broil has an access hatch for the coal though, so you can tend to the fire more easily.

So, all together, they are both really solid choices. Go over the differences and decide which one is a better fit for you!
